A heartbreaking incident occurred along the western coastline of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands, where up to four individuals tragically lost their lives after being engulfed by a colossal wave. Another person remains unaccounted for, heightening the distress surrounding this disaster.

The calamity struck shortly after 4 PM at one of the popular natural pools in Los Gigantes, situated in the municipality of Santiago del Teide. At the time, a number of visitors were enjoying the area, both on the rocky shores and in the water, when an unexpectedly massive wave surged towards them, sweeping them off their feet and into the depths.

Emergency services in the Canary Islands reported that multiple individuals were swept away by the tumultuous waters. Among those affected were foreign tourists, according to the local newspaper Diario de Avisos. A rescue helicopter was dispatched, managing to retrieve one person alive but unfortunately recovering another deceased.
