A tragic incident has unfolded on the picturesque west coast of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands, where a powerful wave swept four individuals into the ocean, resulting in their deaths. Another person remains unaccounted for as rescue efforts continue.
This heart-wrenching event occurred shortly after 4 PM at a popular natural pool near Los Gigantes in the municipality of Santiago del Teide. At the time, many visitors were enjoying themselves on the rocks and in the water when suddenly an enormous wave surged, catching them completely off guard and dragging them under.
Emergency services reported that multiple people were swept away by the tumultuous waters, with several of the victims believed to be foreign tourists. One individual was successfully rescued from the water by a coastguard helicopter, while another was retrieved deceased.
Initially, authorities confirmed the deaths of two men and one woman, aged 35 and 55, respectively. Tragically, a fourth woman who was resuscitated and flown to the hospital later succumbed to her injuries. The nationality of the victims remains unverified at this time.
