On April 27 a British passenger was evacuated to South Africa and remains in ICU; Oceanwide said a hantavirus variant was identified in that patient. A German national died on May 2. Two crew members, a British and a Dutch national, require urgent care. The CDC notes hantavirus can be transmitted via contact with infected rodents and causes flu-like symptoms and breathing difficulties.
