Carey became eligible for Rock Hall consideration in 2015 after releasing her first album in 1990 and was one of 17 nominees announced Feb. 25, a list that included Pink, Shakira and Lauryn Hill. Despite the snub, Carey’s resume remains impressive: inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2020, holder of 19 No. 1 hits, five Grammys and named MusiCares’ 2026 Person of the Year on Jan. 30.

The 2026 Inductees

The Rock Hall’s 2026 performer slate features Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan. Early Influence and excellence awards also honor names like Celia Cruz, Queen Latifah and Rick Rubin. The induction ceremony is set for Nov. 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will air on ABC and Disney+ in December.
