What unfolded in the water

Organizers and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office say the woman disappeared shortly after the swim began in Lake Woodlands near North Shore Park. Fellow racers, lifeguards and volunteers attempted rescues before a dive team recovered her body at about 9 a.m. Major Crimes detectives are conducting an investigation.
